US star Mikaela Shirin had to accept a bitter disappointment at the start of the Alpine World Ski Championships in France.
The safeguarding champion and with 85 World Cup triumphs most effective ski racers in history resigned in the slalom of the mix on Monday.
The very first gold medal in Maribel, French, secured the Italian Federica Brig none in front of the Swiss Wendy Goldener and Ricardo Hawser from Austria.
The only German starter, Emma Richer from SC Mahlstetten, took eighth location.
After the Super-G in the morning, Shirin entered into the slalom with 0.96 seconds behind Brig none.
The 27-year-old was terrific in her parade discipline prior to she still threaded out quickly before the finish.
Instantly memories of Shirin’s drama were awakened at the Olympic Winter Seasons Games in Beijing, where she stayed without a medal a year back.
She has her next opportunity of rare-earth element at the World Cup in the Super-G on Wednesday.
