TERROR METROIDE was a great success of criticism in Nintendo Switch last year, earning numerous prizes, including the best action / adventure game at The Game Awards. The game has also had a good commercial performance for Nintendo, breaking previous records established by the series. According to Christopher Dring of Gamesindustry.biz, Miedo is now the third best-selling Metroid game in the United Kingdom, accounting for physical sales only. Terror Metroide Physical sales are still behind. Primer Metroid and metroid first 3, but it is the best-selling entry in the series. That is undoubtedly a good augury for future Metroid games in 2D!

It should be noted that Nintendo does not publish digital sales data, so Dring leaves open the possibility that Terror Metroide has already exceeded primer Metroid and primer 3. Unfortunately, there is no way to know with certainty. The Dring Tweet can be found in embedded below.

During a Nintendo Direct last month, the company revealed free content for terror Metroide, which includes a new novice mode for newcomers, as well as terror mode, for those who seek a more difficult challenge. The new modes are already available and soon there will be more free downloadable content. In April, a Boss Rush mode will be launched for the game.

Hopefully these strong sales for terror Metroide will show Nintendo that there is still a lot of interest in the Metroid 2D games! For those who never tried the series, Miedo has served as a convincing introduction to 2D games, but there are still enough of those games that are not available in Switch, including MoreID: the Return of Samus. Developed by MercurySteam, the team behind terror Metroide, Samus returns would look like the perfect game to take Nintendo Switch. Maybe we see the title of 3DS ported to the system at some point, or other games such as MoRID: zero mission. For now, we will only have to wait and see!

Terror Metroide is now available, exclusively in Nintendo Switch. Readers can check all our previous game coverage here.
